Fly High
Oct 30-31, 2020
=============
Kartik Poornima is one of the holiest full moon days in Hindu tradition. This day is celebrated differently in various parts of the world. For us, it is “Kojagara Poornima”. On this very auspicious day, people worship the Goddess of abundance to get all sorts of abundance in their lives. It is said that the cosmic vibration on this day is so high that with simple techniques and a little bit of practice you can fulfill your desires.
I prepared myself for this day, as I had experienced the tranquillity on previous full moon days while meditating. I made up my mind that I am going to spend these two days meditating without any distractions. I also selected my food carefully, as there are some foods that are not conducive to the meditating body and mind. Eating too much can also destroy this opportunity to experience your body and mind in its true self. On the 30th of October, I had a very light dinner. I decided that I would get up after mid-night and meditate for the rest of the night. I had also decided to trust myself. This time I am not going to check my awareness. I had checked in the past and was sure about those experiences being real and not my hallucination. So, I made trust is my key.
Everything was going as per my plan except the fact that I could not sleep, as it was Saturday on 31st, kids took some time to go to bed. Once they slept and the whole world was serene and calm. I went upstairs to my healing room and sat down in “Sukhasan”. It took almost 20 minutes to complete my initial breathing exercises and chanting before I could start meditation. Slowly and slowly my body and mind were ready to go into deep meditation. Initially, I struggled with thoughts popping up from all directions, but after some time my mind went into an endless void state.
After a little while, the upper part of my body felt a sudden shake, and goosebumps spread from head to toe. There were no visuals this time. There was no high pitch sound this time. But I felt my body weightless. A very soothing sensation had spread all over my body. All I could hear was a humming sound. It felt as if I was going up and up and up. After some time I started feeling back into my awareness. It was a great experience. The next day there was a full moon day. I was very excited. But it was 3:45 am and it was important for me to complete my sleep hours, only then meditation would work better.
The next day morning, I got up around 7:30 am. I started meditating after usual morning chores with great hope of feeling otherworldly experiences. My mind and body came into sync after a while. I could feel my breath going into the rhythm. I kept sitting for some time and my mind was getting deeper and deeper into meditation. 2 hours passed and I realized I should get up. There was no experience this time. I preserved my hope for the evening and night.
I had a very light breakfast and skipped my lunch that day. In the evening after pooja, again started meditating. It was 7:30 by my watch when I decided to go into meditation. I sat almost an hour and a half when my son come upstairs to ask me to come down for dinner. I was disappointed. I did not have any profound experience as I had yesterday. But I decided not to give up and keep trying to meditate as I had been doing for the last few years.
